Does Success “Find” You?

January 16th, 2007

A question I often wonder about is this: Where does success come from? Some people say we find it while others say it finds us. I have thought long and hard about this issue and can only agree with one of those statements.

The first thing we need to do is to define success. Though I have my own “ultra secret” definition of what success is, I’ll share with you here the general dictionary definition.

Success - an event that accomplishes its intended purpose

Wow, who ever thought success could be summed up in 7 words? Thought almost sounds like a great book title, doesn’t it?

Has a nice ring to it huh? Anyway, sorry for going off topic. So, back to the question at hand. Do we find success or does success find us?

Well, according the definition given above, success happens when we reach an intended purpose. The keyword being intended. You have to want to reach your goal in order for it to be a success. I guess we could call unplanned success luck ;-)?

So, what does this mean to you? Basically, this short article is just a reminder to constantly pursue your goals and don’t settle for whatever. Life is too short and much too precious to just “go with the flow”.

My hope for you is that you swim against the stream (if that’s what it takes) and accomplish all you feel led to. That is true success.
