Inventory.Overture.com Is Gone?
January 27th, 2007To my marketing friends,
There has been much speculation in the last few days about Inventory.Overture.com closing up shop and going it’s merry way. I must say that I have been trying to access the site for the last 14 hours and have not been able to get in yet!
There are some Inventory.Overture.com based tools that I have that are still working, so it appears their database is still available and working, but for some reason it’s been impossible to actually access the site.
Here is a link to the article that started all the fuss:
Goodbye Inventory.Overture.com
Many of us “marketers” use Inventory.Overture.com as a quick tool for researching a niche market idea. What are we going to do now? I’ve spent quite a few hours last night digging around seeing what I could come up with. Here is a short list of some sites you can use that are still working.
Inventory.Overture.com - Why did it have to come to this?
Here are the sites: Happy Searching!

http://www.vretoolbar.com/keywords/ (Overture based, but seems to be working still)

Update: This post has been getting a lot of hits! I have written a full article for EzineArticles.com that not only reveals keyword tools to use, it also explains
how to use the free keyword tools. Here is the link:

It’s a real shame Overture has gone. It was extremely good, even though it was often slow and unreliable. Good on the people who put the effort in to making it in the first place.

Hi,
Hate to tell you, but none of the above work anymore. Yahoo just pulled the plug. Any results that you see at the above tools are cached.
If you need a replacement keyword database to integrate via API, KeywordDiscovery offers that as an option.
Cheers

Hi David,
I just tried out vretoolbar with an assortment of words and they worked.
I am wondering if it’s possible that some of these tools will have continued
paid access to Yahoo’s database?
So that those who can’t afford WordTracker won’t be left out in the cold?

Use nichebotclassic as a way to get some WordTracker and KeywordDiscovery data. My meta keywords tool links to nichebot so you can use that data:

easy and fast to integrate.

We jumped the gun! Overture is back up and working flawlessly. Perhaps they were doing maintenance?

Can also give KeywordSpy.com a try for a keyword research tool, with results actually reflecting what advertisers are using at the current time.

I actually contacted Overture a while back when it seemed that we had lost the tools. I was advised by a girl who seemed to not know anything she was talking about to go to this particular section where i was shown a new search tool they were now using. But I was horrified to find that it no longer provided the results showing you how many times a keyword was searched but gave an estimation. For instance I typed the word Loans and received results showing that naywhere between 35 - 50,000 times that it was typed. I exaplained to the girl that this tool was no good what so ever it needs to tell you exactly not an estimation.
It seeems since that day they realised that the original tool was the better and have finally resorted to going back to it.
Thank God !
