When Family Members Attack - Interviews Gone WILD

August 18th, 2007 by Mike

OK - It’s Saturday and I’m “roughing” it in a little, small, tiny, miniscule, puny town in Alabama. Did I mention the town I’m in isn’t very big? Anyway, I’m here for a family reunion - don’t laugh. Some of us have to be lucky enough to have some roots in Alabama ;-)

So, why am I telling you all this? It’s quite simple really. If you’re anything you like me, you probably have a family…if not, I’m sure you have somebody you consider family anyway. And if you have family I’m sure you’ve had your fair share of arguments, fights, and problems.

BUT - as family always does - we just keep on going and usually just forget about it.

So what’s my point? It’s simple. I decided that because I had all my family together in one place, I’d start interviewing them for your enjoyment. I tried to get them to stay on target and talk about marketing, websites, and all that fun stuff…but they wouldn’t really have it.

If you’re looking for cutting edge marketing tips - you won’t find it here. However, if you want a good chance to laugh and have a little fun, this might just be the best thing you can do for yourself.

I was trying to conduct interviews as family wandered in and out, and no one seemed to take it quite “seriously” enough for me - as family may tend to do sometimes.

I haven’t landed an interview yet my my Mom and Aunts, but I’m trying. I still have 2 days left…so don’t count me out yet. I figured I wanted you to see a little more of the “insider” life I live. Anyone can show their successes and remain professional at all times. It takes someone special (just how special I don’t know) to release interviews gone wild. But hey, what have I got to lose besides a little dignity and maybe a sale or two? ;-)

So - with no further ado - for your viewing pleasure, you can listen in on my first 2 “family interviews”. Stay tuned for more to come as I try to get a sit down with my own Mom - if I can get her to talk into the microphone it’s sure to be a real treat. And you’ll definitely love my Aunts - they’re a real hoot.

In one of the audios below I tried as hard as I could to get my Aunt Carolyn to talk to me - but she wouldn’t budge. But I won’t give up! I still have 2 days left, as I’ve already said.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Because I am a marketer, I have to give you a link to click on. Umm, let’s see here. Would you mind if I gave you two links?

Seriously though - check these out - but listen to the interviews first!

Awaken The Writer Within
Party Like A Rock Star

Interview 1 - I attempt to interview my cousin Lucinda about an online
business she is starting. She’s trying to sell some kind of baby shower gift,
but being a guy - I’m a little dense on the idea!

Interview 2 - I don’t really remember what I was trying to do here, but basically
it ended up with a smörgåsbord of my family members interrupting. Pay special
attention to my cousin Carmen who makes a grand appearance

Enjoy, and look for more later!

The Pursuit of Happyness…The Story of Chris Gardener

December 20th, 2006 by Mike

Hi There!

I am feeling very refreshed after my mini-vacation the last couple of days. I went to Orlando and witnessed Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas. It was a blast and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes Christmas and Mickey Mouse!

I got back last evening and spent today “recovering” from my trip. In the afternoon I took a little break and went and saw The Pursuit of Happyness. For those of you who don’t know what it’s about, I’ll tell you.

It’s a movie based on the true life story of Chris Gardener, a once homeless man turned multi-millioniare. Chris Gardener is played by Will Smith and Will Smith’s real life son plays Chris Gardener’s son in the movie.

I won’t spoil the details of The Pursuit of Happyness, but I will say this. The story teaches many lessons about what it takes to be a success. Chris Gardener had every excuse in the world to give up, quit, or not even try.

Everyday we are given “ways out”. We are constantly faced with the decision to continue on or give up. Sometimes we make wrong choices and are left to deal with those consequences, but that’s ok. That is how we learn and grow.

Chris Gardener was homeless, broke, jobless, and carless…he had every right to just sit back and complain about his situation. Instead he focused on what he did have…intelligence and dedication. He used those two assets to work his way up the stock broker world and….

I’ll stop there and let you watch the movie yourself. But, if you’re out there right now and using excuses, don’t do it. It won’t help you in any way. The people who succeeed do so in spite of their circumstances, not because of them.

Find your niche in life and never quit learning. You are capable of more than you ever thought possible.

Now, go to the theater and watch The Pursuit of Happyness. The story of Chris Gardener is truly inspirational and life changing.
